For cars that say "Premium fuel recommended" would the car break down faster if we give it regular?

If you use Regular fuel in a car that calls for premium you are very likely to exsperience a condition called "Pinging" or pre-detonation. Yes this can and will damage your engine if it occurs over long enough periods of time, so if you buy a car that reccomends using premium, listen to the sticker.
